It’s launch week for Idols of a Mother’s Heart! It officially releases on December 7 and I’m thrilled to share it with you!
Idols of a Mother’s Heart is for moms. It’s for moms who are tempted to find life and hope in things, circumstances, and experiences. It’s for moms who know what it is to think “If only ____ would happen, then my life would be better. It’s for those who have found motherhood to magnify sin in their heart they didn’t realize was there. It’s for moms, like me, who long to love the Lord with all their heart and want to know what that looks like —and how that can even happen.
Idols of a Mother’s Heart is about worship. It’s about how we were created to worship, how our worship is fallen, and what Jesus did to remake us into the worshipers we were created to be. It’s about common idols moms are tempted to worship and the hope found in the gospel—in who Jesus is and what he came to do. It’s about taking an honest look at the contents of our heart and dethroning the false gods we place there.
Here’s what a few readers have said about the book:
“This book will not only make you a better mother, it will make you a better worshipper. I heartily commend Christina’s book to Christian mothers everywhere.”
—David Murray, Professor of Old Testament and Practical Theology, Puritan Reformed Theological Seminary. Author of Jesus on Every Page, Reset: Living a Grace-Paced Life in a Burnout Culture, and Exploring the Bible.
“As parents, we never intentionally set out to shift God’s good gifts from their rightful place to an ultimate place in our hearts. Idolatry can be subtle or flagrant but either way what we need is heart surgery. Idols of a Mother’s Heart brings the gentle scalpel of the gospel to the divided hearts of women. Every page is Scripture saturated and theologically robust. I found myself praying, ‘Lord change my heart, and change the hearts of women so that their lives, homes, churches, and communities exalt You alone as preeminent!’”
—Karen Hodge, Coordinator for Women’s Ministry for the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA)
“Christina Fox’s heart is on every page as she longs for moms to have a right view of how God sees them. With the gentle nudge of a friend, Christina encourages women to enter into mothering from the only safe place—rest and fullness in Christ.”
—Holly Mackle, author of Same Here, Sisterfriend: Mostly True Tales of Misadventures in Motherhood and Little Hearts, Prepare Him Room.
“In Idols of a Mother’s Heart, Christina Fox writes with a wealth of wisdom and theological understanding. She exposes the idols we often battle in motherhood—control, comfort, achievement, and approval—and helps diagnosis the problem in our own hearts. Most importantly, Christina points to the grace of God by encouraging mothers to turn from idolatry and find life in Christ alone.”
—Melissa Kruger, author of In All Things: A Nine-Week Devotional Bible Study on Unshakeable Joy
